The Oral Health Shift I Didn’t Know I Needed (and What I’m Using Now)
I’ve been in my holistic girly health era for a long time, but I’ll be honest, my oral health wasn’t always a top priority. Sure, I brushed and flossed like everyone else, but I never really thought about my mouth as part of my overall wellness. If I’m being really real, my mouth has never looked the way I wanted it to. I’ve always been a little self-conscious about it, so it was honestly easier to kind of ignore it than to dive deeper and face it head-on. That changed this year when I made the decision to overhaul my routine with serious intention, and let me tell you, the results have been worth it.
Here’s a look at the products that are helping me turn things around:
1. XyliBrite Toothpaste – Nature’s Sunshine (Cool Mint)
This xylitol toothpaste is a game changer. I love that it’s packed with xylitol and baking soda to gently cleanse while supporting a balanced oral microbiome. No questionable ingredients, no weird aftertaste—just clean, minty-fresh goodness that feels like it’s actually doing something.
2. Living Well Remineralizing Mouth Wash – Cool Mint
This mouthwash isn’t your basic “swish and spit.” It’s formulated to rebuild, which is exactly what I wanted. I’ve been super intentional about remineralizing my enamel, and this one combines powerhouse ingredients to strengthen, soothe, and refresh without stripping my mouth’s natural defenses.
3. Living Well Sensitive Remineralizing Tooth Powder
This little jar is small but mighty. It’s designed for sensitive teeth (hi, that’s me) and offers extra remineralizing power. I alternate between the toothpaste and this powder depending on how my mouth is feeling, and I love knowing I’m giving my teeth extra TLC when they need it.
4. Guru Nanda Therapeutic Oil
Oil pulling has been a staple in my routine for a while now, and this therapeutic oil has been my go-to. It’s clean, effective, and leaves my mouth feeling next-level fresh. Oil pulling is one of those practices that seems small but makes a massive difference in overall oral and systemic health.
My Not-So-Secret Weapon: Tongue Scraping
No oral health routine is complete without mentioning tongue scraping. This practice is non-negotiable for me now. Our tongues can harbor bacteria and toxins that brushing alone just won’t touch. I scrape my tongue every morning before anything else—before tea, coffee, breakfast. Not only does it support fresher breath, but it also plays a major role in reducing bad bacteria and keeping my digestive system running smoothly (yes, your mouth is the start of your gut!).
Why I’m So Intentional About This
Oral health is one of the easiest things to overlook until something goes wrong. But what I’ve learned is that your mouth is a window into your overall health. Inflammation, gut issues, even hormone imbalances can all show up in your oral microbiome. By being proactive and intentional, I’m not only keeping my teeth and gums in great shape, I’m supporting my whole body from the inside out.
If you’ve been wanting to level up your own routine, I highly recommend starting with just one or two of these swaps. It’s amazing what a difference you’ll notice when you give your mouth the love and attention it deserves.
