Salt is Our Friend
Let’s get one thing straight: salt isn’t the enemy. But processed salt? That’s a different story.
Table salt (the stuff most people shake onto their fries) is stripped, bleached, and loaded with additives. It’s considered inorganic and can actually make things worse for your health. We’re talking contributors to:
- -Gout
- -Rheumatism
- -Tuberculosis
- -Gallstones
- -Eczema
- -Cataracts
- -Even uric acid buildup (aka “gravel”)
On the flip side, natural, unrefined salt—aka organic salt—still contains its full spectrum of trace minerals and actually supports your health. It’s detoxifying. It’s nourishing. And it helps with things like:
-
-Adrenal fatigue
-
-Asthma
-
-Poor circulation
-
-Muscle cramps
-
-Edema
-
-Low blood pressure
-
-Hypothyroidism
-
-Respiratory allergies
-
-Sinus infections
-
-And yes—even poison ivy & oak
Natural salt plays a huge role in regulating blood pressure (yep, really), supporting thyroid health, and improving digestion. Just a pinch in filtered water before meals can help stimulate hydrochloric acid and boost nutrient absorption. It can also be added to baths with Epsom salts for detox and deep relaxation. You can even mix it into warm water for a throat gargle or use it as a nasal rinse.
In our home, we use Redmond’s Real Salt—it’s mineral-rich, delicious, and comes straight from an ancient seabed in Utah. It’s our ride-or-die for cooking, mineral support, and home remedies. My pro tip? Go in on a big 10lb bag with a friend or family member. It lasts forever and saves you money in the long run.
But don’t stop there—let’s talk electrolytes.
If you’re feeling tired, bloated, foggy, or you're even dragging after a workout, chances are your electrolyte balance is off. This is especially common for women dealing with adrenal fatigue, hormone imbalances, or blood sugar swings.
My personal favorite? Redmond’s Re-Lyte. It’s clean, effective, and balanced with a full spectrum of electrolytes (including the kind from real salt). I use it after I sweat, on hot days, right when I wake up or just when I’m feeling off. No artificial junk, no blood sugar crashes, just real replenishment.
